So I’m currently doing my PhD, which is the qualification that will mean that people have to call me ‘Dr. Bella’ and that can take 3-4(ish) years. It’s different in places like the USA.
Before my PhD, I did a masters degree which took me 4 years and afterwards (totally optional, absolutely nobody has to do this) I did an extra masters.
Other than the 2-3 years for GCSEs (I started my science GCSEs a year early in Year 9) and the 2 years for A-Levels, my qualifications after I left school took 4 years for my Physics degree (I did a Master’s degree combined with the normal Bachelors degree) and now I’m currently studying for my PhD – mine will take 3 and a half years and I’m currently in my second year 🙂
After finishing my A-levels (2 years), I spent 5 years at university to get a masters degree (and spend a year working). It wasn’t all hard work though, most of it was pretty fun!
I did three years of undergraduate studies then one year of Honours (which involved attending classes and doing research). I actually quit my first PhD after 2.5 years because I got really depressed (I lived in a city where I didn’t know very many people). I did a few odd jobs for the next 3 years then decided to have another go at a PhD. I finished that one in 4 years 🙂
