Persevere! It was hard to get a funded position even after obtaining my bachelors and masters, but you have to keep reaching out to other scientists and ask to work with them.

Study a lot and then start with doing what you really like and find interesting, this helps when it gets hard. Make a plan and go for it.

I studied to get a masters in Engineering, this took about 5 years at university. I then had to write a letter saying why I wanted this job, and write a CV (basically a list of things I’m good at). Finally, I had to do two interviews, one was over telephone, and the other one was in person. It took 2 days! It’s a lot of hard work to get a job you enjoy!

Lots and lots of study, and the will to not give up 🙂 I actually gave up on my first PhD and thought I’d never want to try again, but I did, and I finished the second time.
