I love tackling new problems! You can apply a lot of creative thinking to science. I also love the collaborative side, because talking to people about your work can really help you come up with new solutions, and identifying new issues.
I love outreach too – science is beneficial to everyone and scientists need to communicate their work. I learn just as much as the audience when I do outreach – again, fresh new perspectives make you a better scientist.

A little selfishly, I really enjoy knowing things that nobody else does. I love having just that little bit of information that means I know something before anyone else in the world does. It’s the thrill of discovery.
But I absolutely love the other side too, watching people light up about their discoveries and hearing people talk about their specific niche topic is incredible to me.

I love finding out new things and being able to share them with other people. There are always going to be new things to study and try to explain, because every time we discover something new, it always opens up a whole bunch of new questions that need answering

Good question. To me, science explains how things work and why. This is very useful when you are trying to fix something that stopped working or want to make something new.
