Question: Why do these explosions happen?

The Sun has a magnetic field, just like the Earth does, but it gets tangled up in certain places. When the magnetic field gets so tangled, it breaks away from the surface which also causes a release of lots of energy as well as hot particles (plasma) which all form these explosions!
