Evolution is a term that we often use to talk about animals changing over long periods of time, but it actually just means that something ‘changes over time’. Galaxies can change for lots of different reasons. Sometimes its because they get too close to another galaxy, and their shape gets messed up by the force of gravity from the other object. Galaxies can also change colour, depending on whether they’re still making new stars.
