• Question: How and why is a galaxy destroyed?

      Galaxies never really get destroyed, but they can be changed quite a bit if they pass through or near enough to another galaxy that is big enough. Sometimes galaxies will join together to become much bigger galaxies, other times, they will get stretched out and lose their shape. All of the stars that used to be in the separate galaxies will still exist, but they might not be in the same place anymore
